THE RACE: What to Expect

All Race Entries Include

Participants learn the values of teamwork, problem solving and finish the race with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Racer Gear
8 - 15 yr olds

Mandatory Gear Ages 8 – 15 years olds

Each team member must have the following:

  • Sturdy Bike that fits and is in good working condition (mountain bike type is best. Avoid road speed bikes with narrow tires)
  • Bicycle Helmet 
  • Bicycle Gloves (to protect hands on ropes and cables) 
  • Small Backpack
  • Water Bottle or Water Bladder (Minimum of 10 oz.)
  • First Aid Kit*: Small Ziploc Bag with Wet Wipes, Sunscreen, Band-Aids, White Tape, and Neosporin.
    *Please Note: Race organization has a full standby medical team onsite at all times

Race organizers will provide a climbing harness and life jacket. 

Recommended Gear

  • Shorts & T-shirt (no bathing suits)
  • Rain/Wind Jacket (we run rain or shine)
  • Socks, Sturdy Athletic Shoes (no open toes or sandals)
  • Change of cloths for after the race. They WILL get wet.

6 & 7 Year Olds

Mini teams DO NOT use a bike during their course however they DO NEED a bike helmet. 

Each team member must have the following:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can kids compete with a teammate that is a different age?
A: Yes. The age group will be determined by the age of the oldest teammate. 

Q: Can teams be co‐ed?
A: Yes.

Q: How many teams are on course?
A: Races are limited to 500 teams per race day, spread across 3 waves. Teams will be released 2 to 3 teams at a time every 2 minutes to manage course flow.

Q: If my child does not have a partner can I sign my child up to save a spot and then find a partner?
A: Yes. Make a team name for your team when you register your child. The parent of the teammate will have to choose your child’s team name and join it. You can create a password to ensure the correct parent joins your team. YOU are responsible for ensuring your team is set before race day. 

Q: What is included in the entry fee?
A: Your child’s Kids Adventure Games entry fee includes an Athlete shirt and  a medal of completion upon finishing the race.

Q: What happens if there is bad weather on race day?
A: The race will take place rain or shine. In the event there is lightning in the area, the Race Director will make the appropriate call to delay or cancel the race. No refunds will be given if the race is cancelled due to weather.

Q: I signed up months ago but something has come up and I need to cancel. Can I receive a refund?
A:CANCELLATION POLICY A team can withdraw from the Event up to and until 11:59pm 60 days prior to the running of the Event they are registered in. Please do not ask as we do not enjoy saying no. Note: A $25.00 per team cancellation fee will apply. Within 60 Days prior to the registered Event onwards for any reason (including, but not limited to, medical reasons), there is no refund of any portion of the entry fee. Teams must formally cancel and request a refund via email support@kidsadventuregames.ca

Q: May I transfer my registration to a different team?
A: Yes. Registrations can be transferred to a new and different team up to 10 days prior to your event date. A $15 transfer fee will be applied on all transfers. Transfers can be requested a refund via email support@kidsadventuregames.ca

Q: My child’s partner cannot compete anymore. Can they race with a different partner?
A: Yes, send your request, at least 10 days before the race to support@kidsadventuregames.ca.

Q: Can I accompany my child during the race?
A: Yes, you can accompany your child throughout the race to watch them at the different challenges; however we ask that you refrain from helping/interfering with your child during the race. Course marshals will be on hand to assist if children have difficulty. The satisfaction your child will feel when finishing the race is in large part determined by the knowledge that they did it themselves.

Q: Does my child need any special clothing or footwear for this event?
A: We recommend kids wear moisture‐wicking clothing as they will get wet & running shoes for footwear. They will be required to wear a helmet and bike gloves throughout the entire competition. Please NO JEANS. Bring a change of clothes for after the race as they will get wet.

Q: What special equipment does my child need?

A: Mandatory PERSONAL equipment: Each child 8-15 yrs old  is responsible for bringing a sturdy bike (mountain bikes are best).  Children age 6 & 7 competing on the Mini Course will not be using a bicycle. All Children age 6 – 15 are responsible to bring a helmet, bike gloves and backpack with water bottle or water bladder. 

Additionally, we recommend each child carry the following items with them during the event:

  • First Aid Kit: small Ziploc bag with some wet wipes, sunscreen band-aids, white tape, Neosporin.

  • Light snack

  • Small back pack

  • Light wind/rain jacket

  • The race organization will provide a climbing harness and a life jacket if/when needed.

 

Q: We can’t stay after the race to use the Blue Mountain Full Access Ticket. Can we remove cost of the Blue Mountain Ticket from our registration?

A: No, the Blue Mountain fee for the Full Access Ticket is required by Blue Mountain Resort and is automatically applied to all registrations. While we understand not everyone may be able to take advantage of the attractions after the race, the ticket is part of the resort’s access policy for event participants. We hope many families will still enjoy the added value and make the most of their day at the mountain!

Q: I registered earlier this year and my registration didn’t include a Blue Mountain Full Access Ticket. Is it retroactively included in our registration?

A: No, registrations completed before July 1 did not include the Full Access Ticket, as this fee was added later by Blue Mountain Resort. However, if you’d like to take advantage of the great value now being offered to Kids Adventure Games participants, you can purchase a Full Access Ticket through us. Just reach out and we’ll help you get set up!

 

RACE DAY INFO

Please read all email communications that are sent out, which will contain registration and wave start times, important updates and last minute changes/reminders. 

  • All participants will need to sign a waiver prior to arriving.
  • Spectators may not be permitted or may be limited based on capacity restrictions.
  • Race bibs, provided at check in, should be pinned to the front of athlete’s shirt.
  • We ask that parents allow their children to work together to problem solve all obstacles without assistance. Feel free to cheer and encourage, but refrain from physically helping

The race will take place rain or shine. In the event there is dangerous inclement weather or lightning in the area, the Race Director will make the appropriate call to delay or cancel the race. No refunds will be given if the race is cancelled due to weather or wildfires or smoke because of wildfires and there is dangerous air pollution
